Cleanings - Routine and Deep
The type of teeth cleaning a person needs depends on whether the patient has healthy gums, gingivitis or periodontal disease. On one of the initial visits to the dentist at River Dental, an examination and measurements will be taken to evaluate which type of teeth cleaning is best suited for you.
Regular teeth cleanings are carried out in a single appointment by our dental hygienist and are typically recommended for every six months.
Deep cleanings are more involved and can be more time-consuming because of the need for multiple appointments. When a deep cleaning is needed it means that periodontal disease is involved and if the teeth cleanings are neglected, the patient is at risk for tooth loss.
